Medicare (Part D) Prescription Drug Coverage

Some Guidelines When Choosing A Medicare Drug Plan

·  A Medicare drug plan will be less expensive for most people than buying drugs from Canada.

·  Even if you are taking few or no prescriptions today, it probably makes sense to pay for one of the less expensive plans.  This is due to the inherent value of having catastrophic insurance prescription coverage when needed, and because Medicare charges a penalty of 1% per month in additional premium cost if you wait until you actually need it before purchasing

·  Which of the several dozen plans offered in each state to choose should only be decided after comparing the various plans using your actual prescriptions and dosages.  Use the Medicare website to Find a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.

·  Finally, even after deciding which plan looks best, before enrolling, play it safe by contacting the plan to confirm the coverage and costs of your specific prescriptions.
